In the year 1840, some tracts of lands were given to some Britishers, which was known as Arcadia Grant, on condition that these lands were to be cleaned and brought under cultivation within the next 20 years or else these lands would be forfeited. In the year 1848 tea was introduced in Doon Valley by the then British Government. ln, the year 1860 these Britishers formed a Company by the name of “Dehra Doon and North West of India Tea Company Limited”.
Subsequently, on 31st March 1863, a new Company was formed by the name of “Dehra Doon Tea Company Limited”, The purpose of the new Company was to take over the tea gardens and other property of “Dehra Doon and North West of India Tea Company Limited”.
It was around the Year 1863, it came to the notice of the British Government in India that the free grant given to British individuals could not be transferred to a Company, hence the Arcadia Grant and East Hopetown Grant were purchased by ”Dehra Doon Tea Company Limited”. The amount so settled was to be paid within 10 years with simple interest. The purchase amount was duly paid, and the Company has receipts for the same.
ln the year 2007 M/s. Loam Realtors Pvt. Ltd. (erst-while Logical Buildwell) acquired 73.38% (74,850 shares out of total 1,02,000 shares) shares of Dehradun Tea Company Limited.
On 2nd February 2009, the name of the Company was changed from Dehradun Tea Company Limited to DTC India Limited.
On 17th September 2016, the Registered Office of the Company was shifted from Dehradun to Delhi and the Corporate Office was made at Dehradun.
Presently DTC India Limited is holding 1,127.48 Acres of land and making Green Tea.
